Cecilia Mericis Peña is a visual artist and photographer with a passion for pattern, scenic and botanical art. She began drawing mandalas in 2014 as doodles, which soon evolved into fine art in combination with watercolor featured in art galleries and collaborations with brands when she attended New York City Fashion Institute of Technology, specializing in fabrication and pattern making. Since then, Cecilia continues to expand her knowledge in mandalas as art therapy and her art has evolved into pattern making with botanical art. Her photography focuses on figure work and scenic landscapes that evoke the patterns visible in our world. On her free time, Cecilia has taught visual arts classes to elementary and middle school students in Boston and her hometown of Baní in the Dominican Republic, where she helped found The Mary Diaz Foundation, a non-profit for youth with her mother.

ABOUT MANDALAS:

Mandalas, represents wholeness, and can be seen as a model for the organizational structure of life. A cosmic diagram that reminds us of our relation to the infinite, the world that extends both beyond and within our bodies and minds. It brings together the Feminine and Masculine energy. The material and non-material realities. And they appear everywhere around us, from a flower to the sun. As well as conceptual circles of friends, family, and community.
